Honda Pilot: A/T Differential Backlash Inspection

Inspection

1. Final Driven Gear and Transfer Drive Gear - Remove

1. With AWD: Remove the final driven gear and the transfer drive gear.

   Without AWD: Remove the final driven gear.

2. Differential Backlash - Inspect

1. Install both axles into the differential assembly (A).
2. Place the axles on V-blocks (B).
3. Measure the backlash of the pinion gears (C) with a dial indicator (D).

Standard: 0.05－0.15 mm (0.0020－0.0059 in)

4. If the backlash is out of the standard, replace the differential assembly.

3. Final Driven Gear and Transfer Drive Gear - Install

1. With AWD: Install the final driven gear and the transfer drive gear.

   Without AWD: Install the final driven gear.
