Replacement
NOTE:

The carrier bearing and the carrier bearing outer race should be replaced as a set.

Inspect and adjust the carrier bearing preload whenever the bearing is replaced.

Check the bearing for wear and rough rotation. If the bearing is OK, removal is not necessary.
- Unless otherwise indicated, illustrations used in the procedure are for AWD.
1. Carrier Bearing - Remove

- Remove the carrier bearing (A) using a commercially
available bearing puller (B), a bearing separator (C), and a
spacer (D).
2. Carrier Bearing - Install

- Install the carrier bearing (A) until it bottoms using the 45 x
55 mm installer attachment and a press.
