Test
NOTE:
- Unless otherwise indicated, illustrations used in the procedure are for
left side.
- Before doing the Clutch Test, check the following conditions.
- Check to make sure there are no DTC detected.
- Make sure the transmission is in P position/mode.
1. HDS - Connect
2. Rear Differential Fluid Temperature - Check
- Check that the rear differential fluid temperature is over 68
ºF (20 ºC) with the HDS. If it is below 68 ºF (20 ºC), raise
the temperature by driving the vehicle in circles or by
constantly turning.
3. Vehicle - Lift
NOTE: The distance should be in the specified value between
ground and center hub: 40-50 cm (15.7-19.7 in).
4. Rear Wheel - Remove
5. Rear Differential Clutch - Test
- Install the torque wrench adapter on the rear wheel hub.
- Install a torque wrench (A) on the torque wrench adapter as
shown.
NOTE: Use a torque wrench capable of measuring up to
785 N-m (80.0 kgf-m, 579 lbf-ft) such as a commercially
available Snap-on
torque wrench TEC602A.
- Do the Clutch Test with the HDS.
- Slowly rotating the rear wheel hub with the torque wrench
by torque of 294 N-m (30.0 kgf-m, 217 lbf-ft).
NOTE: Turn the rear wheel hub no more than 45 degrees
in 2 seconds.
- If the rear wheel hub rotates, replace the left and right
clutch assembly.
- If the rear wheel hub does not rotate, the system is OK
at this time and the test is complete.
