Honda Pilot: Steering Lock Removal and Installation

Removal

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations, and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

1. Steering Column/EPS Control Unit - Remove

2. Steering Lock - Remove

1. Center-punch both of the two shear bolts (A).
2. Drill their heads off with a 5 mm (0.20 in) drill bit. Be careful not to damage the steering lock when removing the shear bolts.

   NOTE: The shear bolts have left-hand threads.

3. Remove the steering lock (B).

Installation

1. Steering Lock - Install

1. Loosely tighten the new shear bolts (A).

2. Tighten the shear bolts (A) until the hex heads (B) twist off.
