Honda Pilot: Subframe Removal and Installation

Removal

1. Front Subframe - Remove

NOTE: After removing the subframe mounting bolts, front stiffener mounting bolts, rear stiffener mounting bolts, stiffener plate mounting bolts, and the rear engine mount base bracket mounting bolts, be sure to replace them with new ones.

Rear Subframe

1. Rear Subframe - Remove

NOTE: After removing the subframe mounting bolts be sure to replace them with new ones.

Installation

1. Front Subframe - Install

NOTE:

• Align the front subframe with the subframe alignment pin.
• Align the front subframe in the following sequence.

1. Lift the front subframe (A) up to the body, and loosely install the new subframe mounting bolts (B, C), the front stiffener mounting bolts (D), and the front stiffeners (E), the new rear stiffener mounting bolts (F), the rear stiffeners (G).

2. Insert the subframe alignment pin (H) through the positioning hole (I) on the right rear subframe, and into the positioning hole (J) on the body, then loosely tighten the subframe right front mounting bolt.
3. Insert the subframe alignment pin through the positioning hole on the left rear subframe, and into the positioning hole on the body, and then loosely tighten the subframe left front mounting bolt.
4. Tighten the subframe mounting bolts to the specified torque in the sequence shown. Use the subframe alignment pin when tightening the rear side subframe mounting bolts.
5. Check all of the subframe mounting bolts, and retighten if necessary.
6. After reinstalling all removed parts.

2. Front Wheel Alignment - Check

Rear Subframe

1. Rear Subframe - Install

NOTE:

• Install the rear subframe by aligning the installation positioning holes and positioning holes with the subframe alignment pin.
• After reinstalling all removed parts.

2. Rear Wheel Alignment - Check
