Honda Pilot: Transmission Housing Third Shaft Bearing Replacement

Replacement

1. Reverse Idler Gear - Remove

2. Third Shaft Bearing - Remove

Honda Pilot. Remove, Install, Replace, Check info

  1. To remove the third shaft bearing (A), expand the snap ring using the snap ring pliers.
  2. Push the third shaft bearing out using the 15 x 135L driver handle and the 71.5 mm oil seal driver attachment.

    NOTE: Do not remove the snap ring unless it is necessary to clean the groove in the transmission housing.

3. Third Shaft Bearing - Install

Honda Pilot. Remove, Install, Replace, Check info

  1. Install the third shaft bearing (A) in the direction shown.
  2. Expand the snap ring using the snap ring pliers.
  3. Insert the third shaft bearing part-way using the 15 x 135L driver handle and the 71.5 mm oil seal driver attachment.
  4. Release the snap ring pliers.
  5. Push the third shaft bearing down until the snap ring snaps in place around it.

Honda Pilot. Remove, Install, Replace, Check info

  1. After installing the bearing, check that the snap ring (A) is seated in the bearing and the housing groove, and that the snap ring end gap (B) is 0-7 mm (0-0.28 in).

4. Reverse Idler Gear - Install

  • Driver Handle, 15 x 135L 07749-0010000

  • Oil Seal Driver Attachment, 71.5 mm 07GAD-SE00100
