Removal/Installation
NOTE:
A-Pillar Trim
1. A-Pillar Trim - Remove
- Remove the front door opening seal (A) as needed.
- Open the cap (B), and then remove the bolt.
- Remove the A-pillar trim (A), and then disconnect the
connector (B).
2. A-Pillar Trim - Check
- If the side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the A-pillar
trim (A) and all clips on the trim with new parts.
- If the side curtain airbag has not deployed, check the A-
pillar trim and note the following items:
- To prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying
improperly and possibly causing injury, inspect the A-
pillar trim and replace it with a new one if it has any of
the following damage:
- Any cracks, deformations, or stress-whitened
areas in the A-pillar trim
- Any cracks or stress-whitening in the clip seating
surfaces (B)
- If the clip (C) are damaged or stress-whitened, replace
them with new one.
3. All Removed Parts - Install
- Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
NOTE:
- Make sure the side curtain airbag is not tucked under
the clips or the trim ribs.
- Do not push too hard on the A-pillar trim. If you push
too hard, the clip will be damaged, and it will not hold
the trim properly.
- Gently tug on the A-pillar trim to verify that all clips are
securely fastened.
4. Headliner/Pillar Trim Overlap - Check
B-Pillar Upper/Lower Trim
1. Front Door Sill Trim - Remove
2. Rear Door Sill Lower Trim - Remove
3. B-Pillar Lower Trim Cover - Remove
- Remove the B-pillar lower trim cover (A).
4. B-Pillar Lower Trim - Remove
- Remove the B-pillar lower trim (A).
5. Front Seat Belt Upper Anchor Bolt - Remove
6. B-Pillar Upper Trim - Remove
- Remove the door opening seals (A, B) as needed.
- Hit the upper clip (C) in the B-pillar upper trim (D) with a
rubber mallet. Hitting the clip breaks the projections (E) on
the pin (F), and pushes it into the grommet (G) on the body
(H).
NOTE: The upper clip must be replaced with a new one
when the B-pillar trim is reinstalled.
- Pull back the top of the B-pillar upper trim (A) by hand to
remove the upper clip (B) from the body.
- Remove the B-pillar upper trim.
7. B-Pillar Upper/Lower Trim - Check
- If the side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the B-pillar
upper trim (A), the B-pillar lower trim (B), and all clips on
the trim with new parts.
- If the side curtain airbag has not deployed, check the B-
pillar upper/lower trim and note the following items:
- To prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying
improperly and possibly causing injury, inspect the trim
and replace it with a new one if it has any of the
following damage:
- Any cracks or deformations in the B-pillar upper
trim, or any stress-whitened areas in the upper
part of the trim
- Any cracks or stress-whitening areas in the clip
seating surfaces (C)
- After checking and adjusting the overlap between the
headliner and the B-pillar trim, replace the upper clip
(D) with a new one.
8. All Removed Parts - Install
- Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
9. Headliner/Pillar Trim Overlap - Check
C-Pillar Trim
1. Rear Side Trim Panel - Remove
2. Second Row Seat Belt Upper Anchor Bolt - Remove
3. C-Pillar Trim - Remove
- Hit the upper clip (A) in the C-pillar trim (B) with a rubber
mallet. Hitting the clip breaks the projections (C) on the pin
(D), and pushes it into the grommet (E) on the body (F).
NOTE: The upper clip must be replaced with a new one
when the C-pillar trim is reinstalled.
- Pull back the top of the C-pillar trim (A) by hand to remove
the upper clip (B) from the body.
- Remove the C-pillar trim (A).
4. C-Pillar Trim - Check
- If the side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the C-pillar
trim (A) and all clips on the trim with new parts.
- If the side curtain airbag has not deployed, check the C-
pillar trim and note the following items:
- To prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying
improperly and possibly causing injury, inspect the C-
pillar trim and replace it with a new one if it has any of
the following damage:
- Any cracks, deformations, or stress-whitened
areas in the C-pillar trim
- Any cracks or stress-whitening in the clip seating
surfaces (B)
- After checking and adjusting the overlap between the
headliner and the C-pillar trim, replace the upper clip
(C) with a new ones.
- If the clip (D) are damaged or stress-whitened, replace
them with new ones.
5. All Removed Parts - Install
- Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
6. Headliner/Pillar Trim Overlap - Check
D-Pillar Trim
1. Rear Side Trim Panel - Remove
2. Third Row Seat Belt Lower Anchor Bolt - Remove
3. Cargo Area Light - Remove
4. Rear Roof Trim - Remove
- Remove the rear roof trim (A).
- If necessary, remove the seat belt cover (A).
5. D-Pillar Trim - Remove
- Open the cap (A), and then remove the bolt.
- Hit the upper clip (B) in the D-pillar trim (C) with a rubber
mallet. Hitting the clip breaks the projections (D) on the pin
(E), and pushes it into the grommet (F) on the body (G).
NOTE: The upper clip must be replaced with a new one
when the D-pillar trim is reinstalled.
- Pull back the top of the D-pillar trim (A) by hand to remove
the upper clip (B) from the body.
- Remove the D-pillar trim (A).
- Pass the third seat belt (B) out through the hole (C), and
then remove the D-pillar trim.
- Disconnect the connector (D). (for some models)
6. D-Pillar Trim - Check
- If the side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the D-pillar
trim (A) and all clips on the trim with new parts.
- If the side curtain airbag has not deployed, check the D-
pillar trim and note the following items:
- To prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying
improperly and possibly causing injury, inspect the D-
pillar trim and replace it with a new one if it has any of
the following damage:
- Any cracks, deformations, or stress-whitened
areas in the D-pillar trim
- Any cracks or stress-whitening in the clip seating
surfaces (B)
- After checking and adjusting the overlap between the
headliner and the D-pillar trim, replace the upper clip
(C) with a new ones.
- If the clips (D) are damaged or stress-whitened, replace
them with new ones.
7. All Removed Parts - Install
- Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
8. Headliner/Pillar Trim Overlap - Check
Quarter Glass Upper Trim
1. Rear Side Trim Panel - Remove
2. C-Pillar Trim - Remove
3. D-Pillar Trim - Remove
4. Quarter Glass Upper Trim - Remove
- Hit the clip (A) in the quarter glass upper trim (B) with a
rubber mallet. Hitting the clip breaks the projections (C) on
the pin (D), and pushes it into the grommet (E) on the body
(F).
NOTE: The clip must be replaced with a new one when the
quarter glass upper trim is reinstalled.
- Pull back the top of the quarter glass upper trim (A) by
hand to remove the clip (B) from the body.
- Remove the quarter glass upper trim (A).
5. Quarter Glass Upper Trim - Check
- If the side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the quarter
glass upper trim (A) and all clips on the trim with new parts.
- If the side curtain airbag has not deployed, check the
quarter glass upper trim and note the following items:
- To prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying
improperly and possibly causing injury, inspect the
quarter glass upper trim and replace it with a new one if
it has any of the following damage:
- Any cracks, deformations, or stress-whitened
areas in the quarter glass upper trim
- Any cracks or stress-whitening in the clip seating
surfaces (B)
- After checking and adjusting the overlap between the
headliner and the quarter glass upper trim, replace the
clip (C) with a new ones.
- If the clip (D) are damaged or stress-whitened, replace
them with new ones.
6. All Removed Parts - Install
- Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
7. Headliner/Pillar Trim Overlap - Check
