Inspection
1. Vehicle - Lift
2. Rear Differential Fluid - Check
- Remove the filler plug (A) and the sealing washer (B).
- Check the condition of the rear differential fluid, if the fluid
is dirty or burnt, replace it.
- Make sure the rear differential fluid is at the proper level
(C).
- If the level is below the proper level, check for rear
differential fluid leaks at the differential.
- If a problem is found, fix it before filling the rear
differential with fluid.
- The fluid level must reach up to the bottom of the filler plug
hole.
- If necessary, refill the rear differential with rear differential
fluid to the proper level, then reinstall the filler plug with a
new sealing washer.
Replacement

2. Rear Differential Fluid - Replace
- Remove the filler plug (A) and the sealing washer (B).
- Remove the drain plug (C) and the sealing washer (D),
then drain the rear differential fluid.
- Remove the metal particles from the magnetic surface of
the drain plug.
- Install the drain plug with a new sealing washer.
- Refill the rear differential with rear differential fluid to the
proper level (E).
Fluid Capacity:
1.82 L (1.92 US qt) at fluid change
2.33 L (2.46 US qt) at overhaul
Recommended fluid: Honda DPSF-II
- Loosely install the filler plug with the used sealing washer.
- Do the rear differential fluid air bleeding.
- Start the engine.
- Shift the transmission to P position/mode.
- Wait for 1 minute.
- Turn the engine off.
- Remove the filler plug and the sealing washer.
- Refill the rear differential with rear differential fluid to the
proper level.
- Install the filler plug with a new sealing washer.
3. Maintenance Minder - Reset (With Maintenance Minder System)
- If the Maintenance Minder required to replace the rear
differential fluid, reset the Maintenance Minder with the
gauge (see "Resetting the Maintenance Minder"). If the
Maintenance Minder did not require to replace the rear
differential fluid, reset the Maintenance Minder with the
HDS (see "Resetting the Individual Maintenance Items").
