Honda Pilot: Torque Converter Housing Mainshaft Bearing and Oil Seal Replacement

Replacement

NOTE: Unless otherwise indicated, illustrations used in the procedure are for AWD.

1. Oil Seal - Remove

Honda Pilot. Remove, Install, Replace, Check info

2. Mainshaft Bearing - Remove

Honda Pilot. Remove, Install, Replace, Check info

  1. Remove the mainshaft bearing (A) using the 25-40 mm adjustable bearing puller and a commercially available 3/8"-16 slide hammer (B).

3. Mainshaft Bearing - Install

Honda Pilot. Remove, Install, Replace, Check info

  1. Install the mainshaft bearing until it bottoms using the 15 x 135L driver handle and the 62 x 68 mm bearing driver attachment.

4. Oil Seal - Install

Honda Pilot. Remove, Install, Replace, Check info

  1. Install the oil seal flush with the torque converter housing using the 15 x 135L driver handle and the 72 x 75 mm bearing driver attachment.

    NOTE: Do not drive the oil seal into the torque converter housing until it bottoms out, it will block the fluid return passage and cause transmission damage.

Special Tool Required

Honda Pilot. Remove, Install, Replace, Check info

  • Adjustable Bearing Puller, 25-40 mm 07736-A01000B*

Honda Pilot. Remove, Install, Replace, Check info

  • Bearing Driver Attachment, 62 x 68 mm 07746-0010500

Honda Pilot. Remove, Install, Replace, Check info

  • Bearing Driver Attachment, 72 x 75 mm 07746-0010600

Honda Pilot. Remove, Install, Replace, Check info

  • Driver Handle, 15 x 135L 07749-0010000

*: 07736-A01000B must be used with commercially available 3/8"-16 slide hammer.
